Updated: May 16, 2023

Ya Rayah ( hey traveler) Is an Algerian song of the chaabi type which is the most famous type of music in Algeria and Maghreb countries. This song has gained an incredible success immediately after its realization by the famous Algerian singer dahmane alharrashi, exceeding all borders and becoming the music of the century in France, EU, UK, all Arab countries, African and even in the United States.

Clearly, the first of the reasons why it was incredibly loved is the fact that it was made from the most intense and honest feelings. In addition, this song was the first to discuss a very important and sensitive topic which is immigration and being away from home country and family, which is something very common among Arabs and Africans. Furthermore, the guitar music with which this song was produced was spectacular and just crazily beautiful. Through this beautiful masterpiece, Dahmane Alharrashi just wanted to summarize that the immigrant, whatever his intentions, directions, period of travel, he will always have nostalgia and love to his country of origin, especially when this country is the beautiful Algeria, the country of 1.5 million martyrs.

Song Lyrics: ( N.B. Translation is approximately since Arabic language used is deep and hard to be accurately translated. )

Chorus :Oh traveler, where you going ? You'll end up back. How many people have regretted unwise before you and me (bis)

How many overpopulated countries and desert areas have you seen?

How much time have you wasted?

How much are you losing more and that you let ?Oh you the stranger, you never cease to run in other countries. Destiny and time follow their race but you do not know it

(Chorus x2)

Why is it your heart so sad?

Why are you standing there like an unhappy? The difficulties do not last and you do not learn build and nothing more. The days do not last, just like your youth and mine. Oh the unfortunate luck of which went like mine

(Chorus x2)

Oh you who travel, I give you an advice to follow now

See what suits you before you buy or sell, Oh you the sleepy, news reached me of you, it happened to you what happened to me, So the heart back to its creator the Almighty.
